This photograph, taken by a tourist (ie me ...) perfectly illustrates the connection I want to develop in this post. This picture is the culmination of a succession of steps, at the time of shooting, so unconscious with a hike to focus a hamlet perched ; arriving at the hamlet and the envy of go a little higher, towards the chapel, the desire to see inside the chapel, locked, and finally of the subterfuge is revealed through the small grid of the gate and the photo. Interest in what is hidden is finally an engine of enthusiasm for an event such as Heritage Days. Opening the doors of buildings, the event aims to be can no longer culturally. This weekend is the annual discovery of heritage, but if you think about it, so that transparency. Because what really interests the visitors these days, they are not masterpieces of the museums whose input is unusually free, but the sites or even the corners of sites you can not usually see, places Hidden heritage. Open to visiting a familiar place is indeed of interest if we give access to places normally inaccessible. If, in Paris, the most visited sites in these days are the buildings of power, it is because the visitor wants to see what lies behind. And while some buildings have a real artistic or cultural significance, some parts have shown no other interest than to see what we can not see the rest of the year.
Having the experience of organizing tours in those days, I finally know that the speech of the guide is not enough to arouse the curiosity, it takes visitors a bonus that we must find a corner of the monument: the bulky base of a tower which lies a small statue or graffiti, the vaulted cellars of a modern castle where paradoxically there is nothing except the walls, cables and pipes.
